PUZZLE PURSES

Hello! Happy Wednesday!

Hope you are settling into the 2nd week of distance learning. I know this is a big change for everyone... We are grateful to be together as a family during this time, but there are plenty of folks who are alone, and feeling lonely. How about sending a lovely, handmade note to someone you care about? I found these tutorials online to make Victorian Puzzle purses. This one is from the Royal Mail, the British version of the Postal Service. This one is also from Britain, where the puzzle purses originated. I really like how she made this using stop motion, collage, and video.  They are fairly simple, but I will admit I had to watch the videos a number of times when it came to the part when you make the pinwheel shape... Once you get it, you'll be able to make them very quickly! The decorating is the fun part! I used 4 colored markers, copy paper, and a poem by Wendell Berry to decorate mine. What will you do? Send me a photo of your puzzle purse!

"When despair grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least soundin fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,I go and lie down where the wood drakerests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.I come into the peace of wild thingswho do not tax their lives with forethoughtof grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind starswaiting for their light. For a timeI rest in the grace of the world, and am free."
-Wendell Berry
